The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Coming in 2014
The upcoming sequel will be the featured cover of Game Informer's March issue but if you're a digital subscriber, the news is already available to you. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third and according to developer CD Projekt Red, final entry in the popular trilogy. Here's studio head Adam Badowski's response when asked if this is indeed the final game in the series:
Yes, it is. Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note. Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined. This will be the ultimate fantasy RPG experience, and while we're hardly out of stories to tell, we believe it's time for us to look to new worlds and new horizons to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can create.
Featuring the new REDengine 3 technology, Wild Hunt will offer an open world 30 times larger and the previous game and focus on the already established characters. Other notable gameplay announcements include horse travel for quick transportation across the open world that rivals Skyrim in size, improved monster AI and monster hunting. The Witcher 3 is set for release in 2014 on PC and "all high-end platforms available" which suggest it will be available on the next generation of consoles. Check out the announcement trailer below:
