NEWS Steam Soon Won't Be All About Games

STEAM_SOON_WONT_BE_ALL_ABOUT_GAMES

You might've seen this coming, but the digital distribution behemoth, Steam, is going to start releasing non-gaming software. In the last few months, Steam has had Linux support, Steam Greenlight, Teach with Portals, and Source Filmmaker. If you liked any of those programs, then you have a lot to look forward to in the future. The first batch of software will arrive on September 5. See more for an official statement from Valve to prove it:

The Software titles coming to Steam range from creativity to productivity. Many of the launch titles will take advantage of popular Steamworks features, such as easy installation, automatic updating, and the ability to save your work to your personal Steam Cloud space so your files may travel with you.

More Software titles will be added in an ongoing fashion following the September 5th launch, and developers will be welcome to submit Software titles via Steam Greenlight.

Valve hasn't released any info on what exactly these new software titles are, but we'll keep you updated when we find out. Check out Valve's announcement here.
